Bachelorette Chow: Moulefrite
My sister was here this past weekend. She came over after visiting a friend in a nearby city. My sister is two years older than me, more social than I could ever be and an amazing cook. She recently did a complete overhaul of her diet: she only eats healthy, organic food and tries to work out from time to time. She is a free spirited soul and bonne vivante avant la lettre.
Though I had planned to cook mussels on saturday, I had no idea she was gonna come over. But luckily, I had enough for two. So the picture above is of how I served her the food. She loved it! The fries were oven baked and the mayonaise is artisan.
This summer I've decided to munch on seafood and salads, anything else would just be too heavy on my stomach and make me feel sluggish. Also, this dish is very popular here during summer and goes for about €25.00 at restaurants. My version is much less expensive, below are the ingredients: Bon Appétit as Julia Child would say!
* Mussels: €3.99 (Aldi)
* Organic potatoes: €2.47 (Bioplanet)
* Mussel sauce: €0.99 (Aldi)
* Mussel spices: €1.49 (Delhaize)
* Soup vegetables: €1.00 (Albert Heijn)
* Artisan mayonaise: €4.55 (Delhaize)
--> Served two people and saved me about €10.00 ;)
